Dreamtime showcase returns to Adelaide marking new chapter for Australia’s business events industry

Business events decision makers from around the world have arrived in Adelaide to meet with Australian industry sellers at Tourism Australia’s signature incentive showcase, Dreamtime.

Adelaide has stepped into the global spotlight as the host city for Tourism Australia’s premier incentive event, Dreamtime, which has brought together leading international business events decision-makers and aims to enhance Australia’s profile as a leading destination for business gatherings.

Kicking off today at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Dreamtime is welcoming 80 international buyers and nearly 90 domestic sellers for a two-day exchange poised to foster connections and spotlight Australia’s capabilities as a prime location for business and corporate events.

Participants, including qualified buyers from Asia, New Zealand, North America, and the United Kingdom, will engage in a curated familiarisation program that will allow them to explore Australia beyond the conference room, delving into various destinations nationwide to experience its diversity and offerings first-hand.

This is the first Dreamtime event since 2019, with the last event in Perth generating 36 business leads within three months and securing $97 million despite the global challenges of the pandemic. It reflects the event’s potency in generating high-value opportunities for the Australian business events sector.

In the wake of the global pandemic, initiatives like Dreamtime and the Business Events Bid Fund Program are pivotal in replenishing Australia’s international business events schedule. The Bid Fund Program alone has been instrumental in securing 118 events, translating into an economic impact of approximately $873 million.

Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell expressed confidence in Australia’s position in the business events arena.

‘We know Australia has world-class business events offerings, and Dreamtime is a chance to show international business events buyers why there is nothing like Australia for their next business event.’

‘For the first time since 2019, qualified buyers from key markets around the world will have the chance to connect with Australian industry sellers at Dreamtime and build relationships which will lead to future business events here in Australia’, says Minister Farrell.

Minister Farrell also emphasised the anticipated positive outcomes for businesses as Australia reclaims its pre-pandemic stature, which attracted over a million visitors and generated $4.5 billion for the national economy.

Meanwhile, South Australian Minister for Tourism and Multicultural Affairs Zoe Bettison articulated the state’s enthusiasm for hosting the signature event.

‘South Australia is proud to host Tourism Australia’s signature event that showcases Australia’s best incentive experiences and products, and we are particularly delighted to have the opportunity to showcase our State to agents and media from around the world.’

‘Here in South Australia, we are blessed to have world-renowned destinations such as the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and the Barossa Valley right on our doorstep’, says Bettison. ‘Visitors don’t have to travel far for a unique and memorable experience in what is considered the wine capital and the seafood capital of Australia.’

‘Hosting business events and welcoming corporate incentive guests are a key focus for the South Australian Government. We know that business events and corporate incentives help drive the State’s strategic priorities’, says Bettison.

‘Every year, Business Events Adelaide welcomes over 50,000 business event delegates to Adelaide, generating $250 million for the state economy.’

With the convergence of international buyers and sellers at Dreamtime in Adelaide, Australia positions itself once more as a vibrant and attractive hub for global business events.
