The new boys have landed on Chalk Hill Road, McLaren Vale. We’re talking about the Mitolo father and son dynamo’s that have created the almighty Pizzateca. Originally starting their pizza making venture just down the road at Alpha Box & Dice’s pop up events, the family also has their wine making business tracking back generations; it’s truly in their blood!
Pizzateca is only 4 weeks young and already a great success. As you enter the driveway, you’re welcomed by a salmon pink and green painted shed next door to their ever so amazing restaurant. Walking inside you see friendly, smiling faces and a waft of freshly cooked wood oven pizza comes your way; our stomachs were telling us this was going to be good!
We had the pleasure of sitting upstairs in the perfect spot to watch Vito and Tony work their magic in the wood oven below. Antipasti, pizzas made with homemade ingredients including salsicce and chilli honey and to finish off, Nonna’s tiramisu all went down a treat. Smooth V.Mitolo & Son Shiraz and Grenache were the perfect match to what would be best described as a dance off in the mouth. What is most noticeable and enjoyable to see is the welcoming nature this family brings; it really shows in their food and develops a memorable experience. The kind you would want to share with your friends. We don’t think this place will stay a secret for much longer!
Pizzateca is located at 319 Chalk Hill Rd, and is open on weekends from 12pm for lunch and dinner. We suggest you grab your friends, partner, mother… actually the whole family while you’re at it and head down for an Italian feast!
Jump on their Facebook for further information. And if you can’t make it all the way down to McLaren Vale anytime soon, you can try their pizza in the city. Pizzateca is just one of the food stalls featured at Alpine Winter Village in the Torrens Parade Grounds this month.
