A new walking tour takes food lovers on an epicurean discovery of the city’s culinary nooks and crannies.

Feast1A new walking tour takes food lovers on an epicurean discovery of the city’s culinary nooks and crannies.

Feast on Foot, a new company supported by Adelaide City Council’s Splash Adelaide, is a three hour walking food and street art tour of the city centre on every Saturday morning from 10am until 1pm.

Husband and wife team Terry and Caitlin Hillson came up with the idea as a natural progression of the Good Food Society which Caitlin has run since 2008.

“Feast On Foot was an idea that occurred to Terry while we were walking in Morialta,” Caitlin said.

“A week later I had a route mapped out and had started preliminary talks with restaurants and venues around Adelaide. Our first tour was held on the 20th September with a group of friends, who very helpfully provided feedback and constructive criticism.

“Since then we’ve had several tours, all of which have been a great success with the Feasters who came along.”

Caitlin has run the Good Food Society since 2008, which is an events based, not for profit group. They regularly hold dinners, wine tours, craft beer tours, lunches and other food events.

“Feast On Foot was a natural progression from this,” said Caitlin.

“Feast On Foot started out as purely a walking food tour but has expanded to take in street culture and art as well as Adelaide history. It allows people to experience the sights, smells and flavours of the city.

“While seeing the sights of the Adelaide CBD, you also eat some of the tastiest food in some well-known, and not so well known spots, while learning a lot more about the City of Churches.

The walking food and street art tour takes around three hours around the city centre, starting outside the Stag Hotel.

From there Feasters will experience everything from Middle Eastern snacks to gourmet chocolate to dumplings while being guided around Adelaide by Caitlin.

The Feast On Foot walking food tour costs $25 per person. Any food purchased on the walking food tour is at the cost of the Feaster, unless previously stated.
