Glam Adelaide is a positive news website dedicated to providing reliable, accurate and up-to-date news and guides in South Australia. Our mission is to inform, educate and entertain our audience while promoting the rich culture and heritage of South Australia.
POLICY OBJECTIVE
This policy aims to provide guidance and rules to Glam Adelaide staff for producing and publishing content. All employees and volunteers must agree to its terms before commencing or continuing their work with Glam Adelaide after it has been brought to their attention.
This is a public policy and is available to our readership as part of our commitment to being a transparent and high quality publication.
POLICY
1. Editorial independence
1.1 Glam Adelaide maintains editorial independence and will not allow personal opinions or interests to influence the content we produce. We are committed to providing balanced, impartial and unbiased coverage of news and events in South Australia.
1.2 Whilst Glam Adelaide is dedicated to being a positive news source (other than in relation to honest reviews), this does not mean that we will ever publish material other than content we honestly believe to be accurate or a fair representation of what is reported upon.
1.3 Glam Adelaide may from time to time publish advertising content (see paragraph 9 for further details).
2. Integrity and Transparency
2.1 Glam Adelaide will avoid, to the best of our ability, publishing material which has been gathered deceptively or unfairly, unless it is sufficiently in the public interest to do so.
2.2 Glam Adelaide will aim to present a range of perspectives to ensure no beliefs, opinions or groups of persons are disproportionately represented.
2.3 Glam Adelaide will conduct a holistic approach to producing and publishing content to ensure no content is falsely or unfairly presented.
3. Accuracy and Fact-Checking
3.1 Glam Adelaide will take reasonable steps to ensure all material published is accurate and not misleading or deceptive. Glam Adelaide places a high value of accuracy and fact-checking. We will take steps to ensure that the information provided is correct and up-to-date, and if we become aware that material is inaccurate or misleading after publication we will rectify this and undertake remedial action as is reasonably practicable.
3.2 Where the opinions, statements or views of third parties are published by us, we will make it clear that these are not views of Glam Adelaide by attributing them to the relevant party. Whilst we will not publish statements we know to be false, we equally will not make any warranty that what has been said is true and correct.
3.3 Glam Adelaide will ensure opinions are expressed as accurately as possible, by expressing them in quotes and not distorting their meaning. Glam Adelaide will do its best to ensure factual accuracy of opinions by querying parties and backing up opinions with evidence as is reasonably practicable.
4. Fairness and Balance
Glam Adelaide endeavours to present material with fair and balanced views, ensuring that writers’ expressions of opinion are based on factual and complete materials, and that where an article is an expression of opinion (as opposed to a factual report) it is marked as such.
5. Conflicts of interest
From time to time Glam Adelaide authors may experience conflicts of interest regarding the content of a publication. Glam Adelaide will ensure any conflicts of interest are disclosed clearly at the beginning of the relevant publication.
6. Plagiarism
Glam Adelaide does not tolerate plagiarism. All articles must be original work produced by our staff or properly sourced and credited to the original author.
7. Corrections
Glam Adelaide is committed to correcting errors and inaccuracies in a timely and transparent manner. If you believe a correction is necessary, please email us at [email protected].
8. Advertising
8.1 From time to time Glam Adelaide accepts advertising or promotion requests from individuals, local businesses and organisations.
8.2 Glam Adelaide will always ensure compliance with the AANA Code of Ethics when publishing advertisement material by:
8.2.1 ensuring all sponsored and advertising material is clearly labelled as such;
8.2.2 disclosing any conflicts of interest related to an article; and
8.2.3 not permitting articles to contain misleading or deceptive content or misrepresentations.
8.3 Glam Adelaide may receive products and/or services free of charge for review. In these circumstances Glam Adelaide will always ensure honest and accurate content is published in regards to those products and/or services. As a positive news service, if Glam Adelaide does not believe a positive article can be written due to dissatisfaction or concerns regarding the relevant product or service, we may decline to publish an article (regardless of whether what consideration was provided by the promoter of that product or service).
8.4 Glam Adelaide will always ensure the reader is aware when free or discounted products or services have been provided to us for review.
8.5 We will generally indicate that an article is
8.5.1 a paid sponsorship/advertisement by using the tag #sponsored; and
8.5.2 based on free or discounted products or services being provided to us by using the tag #gifted or #PRSample
9. Privacy and Fair and Honest Dealings
9.1 Glam Adelaide will endeavor to respect a person’s privacy, unless it is sufficient in the public interest not to.
9.2 Where necessary to do so, Glam Adelaide must ensure we avoiding causing or contributing to the causing of substantial offence, distress or prejudice, or a substantial risk to health or safety.
9.3 Where allegations are made about a person or organisation Glam Adelaide will make reasonable efforts in the circumstances to provide a fair opportunity for response before publishing content regarding that person or organisation.
9.4 Glam Adelaide will aim to attribute all information to a credible source unless the source reasonably seeks anonymity.
9.5 Glam Adelaide will not obtain material without a subject’s consent except where it is sufficiently in the public interest to do so and the material cannot otherwise be obtained and the subject identity/ies are concealed.

10. Intellectual Property Rights
10.1 Glam Adelaide warrants that any literary, dramatic, musical and/ or artistic works published by Glam Adelaide are owned and created by Glam Adelaide, or else licensed to Glam Adelaide. Glam Adelaide will ensure accurate reference to the artist or creator of any works that are not owned by Glam Adelaide when used in published content. If Glam Adelaide is alerted to the fact it has failed to attribute, or misattributed the author of a particular copyright work, we will take reasonable steps to rectify this.
10.2 Any and all literary, dramatic, musical and/or artistic works created in the course of an employee or volunteer’s role with Glam Adelaide is to be owned by Glam Adelaide and Glam Adelaide’s ownership will vest upon the creation of that work.
11. Harm and Offence
11.1 Glam Adelaide will endeavour to avoid causing harm or offence to any person or organisation in the course of creating and publishing content.
11.2 If we are made aware of harm caused by an article we have published, we will take reasonable steps to remediate this as soon as is practicable, unless it is not in the public interest to do so.
12. Minors
12.1 Glam Adelaide will take care to protect the physical and emotional welfare of minors who are involved the creation or publication of content by Glam Adelaide.
12.2 Where a minor is involved the creation or publication of content Glam Adelaide will ensure written parental / guardian consent is obtained.
