El Rancho brings smoky eats and ranch-style swagger to The Lane this Winter Reds Festival

This Winter Reds, The Lane turns up the heat with El Rancho—smoky BBQ eats, fireside tunes, mulled wine and that laid-back vineyard swagger.

This Winter Reds, The Lane is turning up the heat with El Rancho—a fireside celebration of smoky flavours, bold reds and relaxed vineyard charm. Forget refined dining, this one’s all about boots on, glass in hand and good times by the fire.

Set high above Hahndorf with panoramic views and a soundtrack that will be a mix of soulful and laid-back tunes with just a hint of country edge. The Lane is embracing a new winter energy. It’s bold, immersive and just a little bit cowboy chic.

“We wanted to bring something unexpected this year,” says the team.

“El Rancho is inspired by that rugged, fireside warmth you imagine on a ranch. Hearty food, bold wines, good company and a touch of that Wild West spirit. It’s playful, laid-back and honestly, the kind of event we’d want to go to ourselves.”

And the food? Forget dainty portions. Think buffalo fried chicken, sticky BBQ short ribs, whole-roasted cauliflower and truffle-baked brie bubbling from the flames.

“Winter calls for something a bit more primal,” they say.

“Food you can pull apart, share and enjoy with sauce on your fingers and a glass of Shiraz in hand.”

That glass, of course, will be filled with The Lane’s cool-climate estate Shiraz. Your first pour is included with a $25 ticket, served in a premium Winter Reds Riedel glass you’ll take home.

“Our Shiraz shows elegance and restraint, with lifted aromatics, bright fruit and a fine spice that keeps calling you back.”

To match the mood, The Happy Leonards will be playing live. Expect cowgirl hats and maybe even a little boot scooting.

“IIf guests want to channel their inner Rip or Beth, we’re all for it. But really, it’s about the attitude rather than the costume — that confident, laid-back energy. We love seeing people lean into the theme, whether that’s full ranch getup or just a felt hat and a good pair of boots,” the team says.

And when the fires are crackling, your cheeks are flushed from the mulled wine and you’re laughing with mates, that’s when the El Rancho magic will hit.

“We want guests to feel like they’ve escaped to a hidden winter ranch for the afternoon, and leave with that glowing, contented feeling you get after a really great gathering.”

The Lane’s rolling vineyards and misty winter skies are the perfect setting.

“Winter strips everything back. The raw beauty of the estate comes through. The crisp air, the dramatic hills and the intimacy of firelight. It’s the kind of afternoon that makes you slow down and stay a little longer.”

Your ticket includes a Riedel glass and first pour of Shiraz, along with access to the pop-up wine bar, live music and fireside dining with just enough Yellowstone style to make El Rancho the real deal this winter.
