ELLEE THE LABEL is a conscious womenswear designer label, with all of their pieces crafted with sustainable fabrics, proudly designed and made in Australia. The local label will be showcased at upcoming Adelaide Fashion Week in the Bon Vivant: Runway one on October 12th.
ELLEE THE LABEL is 100% female founded and owned by sisters Abbey Smythe and Jessica Smythe- Castine who have been set to create an Australian designed and made, conscious womenswear label – even down to the fabric labels.
With a passion to design clothing that is effortlessly beautiful on all people that wear their pieces, they work towards providing clothing that not only looks flattering, but will be a wardrobe staple that can be worn over and over again.
Abbey, the co-founder and creative director of the sister duo has extensive experience in the Fashion industry studying Design at the Whitehouse Institute of Design and a Master of Fashion (Entrepreneurship) at RMIT. Working in the fashion industry in Melbourne, Abbey and Jess decided to continue their journey together taking steps towards a more sustainable and low-impact approach to fashion.
“Our collection showcasing at Adelaide Fashion Week will be distinctly ELLEE; Event and casual dresses featuring bow and frill feminine details in floral prints, shades of green and lilac,” Jess says.
“All effortlessly elevated wardrobe staples that can be worn time and time again, proudly all designed and made in Australia in conscious materials.
“It’s great to see the local fashion industry come together to create this event and highlight Adelaide fashion.
“There are so many talented people I have worked with in SA, from models, agencies, photographers, hair and makeup artists to publications.”
ELLEE THE LABEL was founded on principles centering around respecting people and planet through conscious design, ethical production, and responsible business practices.
“Our values guide all business operation decisions and are woven into every consciously crafted piece, from concept, to production, to sale,” Jess says.
This power duo are making fashion that is timeless not only because of there durability and good quality, but because of the chic simplicity of their pieces.
