Australia’s oldest (and arguably the best) food and wine festival is back for its 38th year! The Clare Valley Gourmet Week is a celebration of the incredible produce the region has to offer with a 10-day event extravaganza across a number of the best wineries and eateries in the area.
And while the event may run for 10 days, it’s opening weekend where the fun really happens and one of Clare’s favourite cellar doors is putting on quite the shindig.
Koonowla Wines has three days of fun prepared with a gourmet Parisian inspired dinner kicking things off on Friday May 13th. The Reverence Gourmet Dinner will see the team at Koonowla teaming up with local caterers ASH, to transport you to the streets of Paris through a decadent four-course meal expertly paired with Koonowla’s premium wines.
Upon arrival, you’ll be treated to a glass of newly released sparkling before embarking on a culinary journey of only the freshest seasonal produce that the Clare Valley has to offer infused with a French flair. The 5.5 hour gourmet dinner will allow you to get acquainted with Koonowla’s premium wine portfolio alongside live music from music royalty Sam Brittain.
The Reverence Gourmet Dinner will pay homage to Koonowla’s rich history taking place in its recently restored heritage winery, which originated back in 1896. This one-night-only event is ticketed and can be purchased here.
If a Friday night indulgence is off the table for you, never fear because two full days of family-friendly fun are to follow. From 10am on both Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th May Koonowla is opening the gates to the luscious lawns of its cellar door for two full days of eating, drinking and of course, being merry.
For the early birds, Taco Cat will be serving up brekky burritos (which pair perfectly with a Koonowla mimosa) with Two Fat Blokes Pizza joining in later in the day and of course, drinks will be flowing from Koonowla’s collection.
Grab a table or BYO rug and settle in for the day with live music on offer to help you soak up that beautiful Autumn air that Clare Valley so lovingly delivers each year. Saturday will see the acoustic stylings of Adelaide’s Brad Lee while Sunday local duo Paul & Andy will be soundtracking your day.
