Hats off to Ember Pizza, who have just been named as the best pizza in the Barossa, Clare and Gawler region.
Ember Pizza was up against some stiff competition. The competition was held by celebrity food critic Matt Preston, but with pizzas to drool over, it came as no surprise when Ember took out the top regional prize after a mere two years of operation.
“Since day one, the business mantra has been to create Proper Good Pizza. And this ethos is something that the whole team here at Ember lives and breathes,” shares co-owner Pete.
“This award was a humbling recognition that a lot of people out there back our vision and simply love our pizza! It’s a style of pizza that no one else is doing in the region and is something we are really passionate about.”
So, what sets Ember Pizza apart from the rest? They ferment their dough for 72 hours in house, and Pete says his team has perfected this process down to a fine art.
“We also never want to reinvent the wheel or have 17 ingredients on our pizzas. It’s proper good pizza and the goal is simple – it just has to taste bloody good.”
Ember Pizza is the passion project of business partners and Barossa residents, Pete Little and Neil Bullock. Both Pete and Neil had established separate and successful businesses, Harvest Kitchen and Barossa Distilling Company respectively, before joining forces to create Ember Pizza.
It is clear that combining Pete skill in the hospitality industry with Neil’s expertise in the wine and spirit game has made Ember Pizza a force to be reckoned with.
“When you all share that same level of passion and drive, it’s reflected in the product that comes out of the kitchen, and this award is testament to what we have created,” Pete says.
Ember Pizza is a family friendly venue with a relaxed atmosphere. There are pizzas to entice the whole family and a large open lawn area outside for the kids to play while the parents sip on great wine and even better cocktails!
Ember Pizza can be found at 18-28 Tanunda Road, Nuriootpa, and is open on Wednesday nights through till Sunday Lunch.
