Emerging Visual Artists To Pluck A GuitarART Masterpiece

HURRY TIME IS RUNNING OUT!

Emerging Adelaide artists aged between 16 to 30 years are encouraged to submit their creative concepts outlining how they would transform a guitar into a work of GuitarART as part of an inaugural visual arts competition, initiated by the Adelaide Festival Centre’s GreenRoom program.

Paying homage to the world’s most popular instrument and coinciding with the fast approaching Adelaide International Guitar Festival, GuitarART will see 10 selected finalist artists given a guitar to create their own masterpiece.

Competition entrants can paint, sculpt, mould or embellish the instrument, but it is the way artists pitch their creative ideas that organisers are particularly interested in.

GreenRoom Coordinator Amelia Dougherty said the competition is a great opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work to a new audience.

As well as the exciting opportunity to exhibit at the renowned Adelaide International Guitar Festival, entrants will all be in the running for the first prize of $1500 and runner-up prizes.

Applications to exhibit in GuitarART close 2 July 2012. For more information, or to download an application form, visit www.adelaidefestivalcentre.com.au/guitarart

The GuitarART Exhibition Opening will be held on Friday 10 August at 6.30pm in the Space Theatre Foyer where winners will be announced. In addition, there will be live entertainment from 15 Mins of Fame open mic performances as part of the Adelaide International Guitar Festival.

This competition is exclusive to GreenRoom members. Membership costs only $20 and includes year-long access to cheap tickets to Adelaide Festival Centre shows, workshops with artists, competitions, exclusive events and more!
