Spring racing fever will hit Caulfield Guineas Day at Morphettville on Saturday 10th of October when the Emirates Melbourne Cup trophy makes a special guest appearance at the track.

The $175,000, 18-carat gold Trophy ‘Cup’ will be joined on its visit to Morphettville by legendary jockey Michael Clarke, who partnered with South Australian trainer Colin Hayes to ride to victory in the 1986 Melbourne Cup.

The trophy will be on show in the Moët & Chandon Pavilion Lower Level between 1 – 3pm, with the public encouraged to come along and get up close and personal with one of Australia’s most famous and beautiful sporting prizes.

The Emirates Melbourne Cup trophy commenced its tour in July and will travel to 33 towns and cities across Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia, including Adelaide, Port Pirie and Angaston.

South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC) Chief Executive Officer Brenton Wilkinson said the appearance of the Cup presented a rare opportunity for the South Australian public.

The presence of the Emirates Melbourne Cup is just one of several exciting elements that Morphettville has to offer on Caulfield Guineas Day.

For those interested in the spring fashion just as much as the racing, for the first time at Morphettville, the SAJC is pleased to present a Millinery Showcase. There will be a range of South Australian Milliners featured, including Adorn Collection, Studio Hats and Marsh Millinery, who will be providing fashionable displays and spring racing style tips to the racegoers.

The Millinery showcase will be held trackside in the Moët & Chandon Pavilion Lower Level, from 12 – 4pm, and is open for all SAJC Members and race day ticket holders to attend.

On the track, there will also be an eight race program of live racing for patrons to enjoy on the day too.

General Admission tickets to Caulfield Guineas Day at Morphettville are $15 for adults, $7 for concession cardholders and the event is free for children 18 and under.
