Emirates has announced that an exciting addition is coming to Adelaide’s aviation industry later this year, with its brand-new long-range Airbus A350 making its international debut right here in South Australia. From December 1st, travellers flying between Adelaide and Dubai will be the first in Emirates’ network to experience the cutting-edge aircraft as it takes over the airline’s EK440/441 services.

The arrival of the A350 is a huge moment for the state, as it brings a major upgrade to Emirates’ Adelaide service, including the introduction of its much-anticipated Premium Economy cabin. The new planes will have a near-18,000 km range and are capable of flying for up to 15 hours non-stop. The A350-900ULR will improve the travel experience for South Australians, offering 312 seats across three spacious cabins. This means almost 4,370 seats each week between Dubai and Adelaide.

Barry Brown, Divisional Vice President of Australasia at Emirates, shared, “The A350’s arrival to Adelaide has been highly anticipated and earmarked for some time.

“Deploying our first long-range A350 to Adelaide underscores our commitment to South Australia and providing travellers with an unparalleled travel experience.”

Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison also shared, “Emirates has been an incredible shot in the arm for our State’s economy, both for tourism and trade, so it is wonderful to see the international airline continue to invest in the route by launching the A350 in December.

“The daily direct non-stop Emirates flights are generating more than $62 million per year in tourism expenditure for South Australia, and now the flight is even more attractive to potential international visitors thinking about coming here.

“Our State is the ultimate Australian destination, with our abundance of wildlife, world-class food and beverage, and non-stop major events calendar – now is the time for international visitors to fly direct and discover South Australia.”

This Emirates A350 news also comes amid a wave of exciting aviation developments for South Australia. United Airlines recently announced that it would launch direct flights between Adelaide and San Francisco in December 2025.

Flight schedules for the new Emirates service will see EK440 departing Dubai at 2:05am, touching down in Adelaide at 8:05pm, while the return EK441 will leave Adelaide at 9:50pm, arriving back in Dubai at 5:30am the following morning.
