The countdown is on for Australia’s premier fire festival, Empyre 2024, returning for its fourth year with a bang this Saturday. Set against the stunning backdrop of Victoria Square – Tarndanyangga – this year’s event – running from 4pm to midnight – promises to be an electrifying celebration of sound, light, and fire.
The city will host this free fiery festival filled with spectacular performances, immersive experiences, and family-friendly fun, organised by Dragon Mill – School of Fire Art, Adelaide’s leading fire school.
Each year, this vibrant festival attracts top fire artists from across the country, showcasing the best in fire performance, brought to you by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA), City of Adelaide and Dragon Mill.
Whether you’re a seasoned fire enthusiast or a curious newcomer, there’s something for everyone!
From 4pm the gates will be open for visitors to dive into local food, workshops, and live music.
Learn fire art skills at the workshops starting from 4:30 including Poi with Ray, Hoop with Olive, Contact Staff with Samson and Fans with Karina.
Then the party begins with an exhilarating Gala Show, with a captivating lineup of artists, including local artists Ash Rowe, Timmehtek and Brettstar. Then a grand finale will ignite the night with a breathtaking blazing spectacle featuring a 14+ cast of fire artists, finishing with a stunning fireworks display choreographed to epic music.
DJs will keep the vibe alive throughout the night before the epic night celebrating the primal allure of fire and community spirit wraps up at midnight.
But Empyre isn’t just about the flames!
The festival is designed to immerse you in a full sensory experience, from ambient fire installations to roving performances and live DJs. Make sure to explore the variety of food trucks offering delicious bites and refreshing drinks, and keep the little ones entertained with engaging kids activities.
