Enjoy A Christmas Event With A Difference And Head Trackside

Don’t horse around with the usual Christmas Party this year, get to the races for some real fun…

After something a little different this Christmas? Forget the soggy party pies in the office lunch room, ditch the ‘same old’ sitting around a table vibe, forget that ho-hum Christmas Party, and head trackside…

Racecourses throughout the state, from Mt Gambier to Port Lincoln and Morphettville, are holding festive-themed meets between now and December 25. The perfect place to get-together with colleagues, friends and family and have a whole lot of fun!

Like all race days, exhilarating sprints by thundering thoroughbreds down the home straight and fashionable fillies are guaranteed, but you’ll also find family-friendly activities and an appearance or two from the big fat man in that red suit.

The Christmas racing action kicks off in Mt Gambier on Friday, December 4, with the Beachport Liquid Minerals Christmas Twilight Races. Racegoers can dine in style in the grandstand overlooking the course or bring their own picnic rug and chairs for a more relaxed evening.

Just two days later, the Christmas race cheer arrives in Murray Bridge for the Thomas Foods International Cup on December 6, while Eyre Peninsula residents can let their hair down at the Jingle Bells Twilight Race Meet in Port Lincoln on Friday, December 11. Another option for those in Port Lincoln is to head to the Christmas at The Races Family Fun Day on December 20. Yes, options galore!

South Australia’s premier racing destination, Morphettville, doesn’t miss out on the action either, with the Christmas Twilight Races on December 18. It’s a great way to take the stress out of organising a work show – without compromising on any of the fun. With live entertainment from the Attack Band and an after-race party in the Diva Lounge with DJ VIP, you will be rocking around the Christmas tree!

For those keen to continue the festivities after Christmas, the Boxing Day Family Races at Morphettville, is the place for city-dwellers to flock. Further north, the Gawler and Barossa Jockey Club Christmas Party Day, on December 28, is an opportunity to kick-back in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
