Bridget Wallace acted upon her passion for hospitality and tourism and purchased the 2.2-acre property in December 2021 with plans to renovate the accommodation.
“I love the Adelaide Hills having lived in the area for most of my life. I noticed a particular absence in Stirling for luxury accommodation, so I took the opportunity to reinvigorate The Retreat at Stirling and invested a further $200,000 to create the ultimate destination,” Bridget says.
The outstanding finish of the newly refurbished apartments can be attributed to the talented designs of Alisa and Lysandra Interiors, the winners of Channel Nine’s ‘The Block’ in 2013. They completely renovated the oldest apartment and undertook a furniture upgrade across the other apartments, a project long overdue since the property’s first build over 20 years ago.
“Lysandra was the main designer on this project. Her vision and creative direction was unmatched. I am so happy with the result and can’t wait for our guests to enjoy the beautiful space,” Bridget says.
The team, also consisting of Spriggs and Co Plumbing and Renovations, cabinetry by Buckberry Classic Furniture, and flooring by Zappia Flooring, are all South Australian owned family businesses, as Bridget is a strong supporter of working with local businesses.
The Retreat at Stirling offers two one-bedroom apartments and two two-bedroom apartments, with prices ranging between $316 – $550 per night for 2 to 4 guests. All apartment bookings include a stocked fridge and pantry with fresh Adelaide Hills ingredients, with local wine and cheese platters available on request.
The accommodation encourages pure relaxation, with an indoor heated pool available on the premises and attractions such as The Stirling Golf Club, Adelaide Hills wineries, local historic villages and walking trails all in close proximity.
While she has only been operating the business for less than six months, Bridget is already thinking about future expansions, with the accommodation already booked out months in advance.
“I have plans in the future to open a day spa amidst the property. Adelaide Hills is fast becoming a wellness destination and I think a day spa would be highly sought after and well received by our guests,” Bridget says.
