Enjoy Krondorf’s Icon Masterclass at their sleek cellar door in the Barossa this week

Immerse yourself in good wine and a piece of the Barossa’s rich history which dates back to the 18th century at Krondorf’s Icon Masterclass.

Lover of South Australia’s rich history? You can immerse yourself in the iconic world of Krondorf wines, which dates back to the 18th century, at their Icon Masterclass which will pair their award-winning vino with a delicious charcuterie board.

The exclusive event is running during the Barossa Vintage Festival which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. It’s where you really see the identity of the Barossa come to the fore, with the best of the region’s rich food and wine heritage on show throughout over 75 events.

“This is our first Barossa Vintage Festival at our new Cellar Door in Tanunda. We’re just down the street from the Festival Hub and are excited to see the town really come alive.” Tony Ganzis, Cellar Door and Wine Bar Manager, says.

“We wanted to create something fitting to celebrate this regional milestone. The Krondorf Icon Masterclass explores the absolute pinnacle of our wine portfolio in a luxurious, but relaxed atmosphere.”

The 60-minute masterclass, available from the 20th – 23rd of April will embrace Krondorf’s rich history and heritage and its attachment to early settlement.

When European settlers arrived in the Barossa in 1847, they founded the small town, dubbing it the “Crown Village”.

Nowadays, Krondorf is known for its exceptional wine.

Krondorf Wines came to fruition in the 1960s and after many successful years, the team finally opened a cellar door in late 2021, adding another chapter to the already illustrious story of the esteemed wine label.

“An experience at Krondorf Cellar Door is about more than just wine tasting. It’s an opportunity to understand more about Barossa, the people and its history.” Tony explains.

“We like to think everyone leaves feeling more connected to this impressive place – and our wines, of course!”

The historic label has picked up some impressive accolades over the years including Best Grenache at the 2020 James Halliday Wine Awards, Gold and Silver medals at the French Syrah du Monde Wine Awards and taking out the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy at the prestigious Royal Melbourne Wine Awards in 1980 for its 1979 Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Icon Masterclass will include the new release of ‘The Honorary’ Cabernet, which is a dedication to the 40th anniversary of winning the Jimmy Watson Trophy.

All wines during the Masterclass will be paired with a divine charcuterie board featuring local produce such as smoked wagu and roast porchetta, Maggie Beer Cheddar, Barossa Cheese Company Baby Bert and more.

While you’re there for your Icon Masterclass, you’ll also be able to participate in a free grape stomping session if you wish, to truly feel like you’re a wine connoisseur for the day.
