Enjoy Summer Fridays In The East End

Adelaide’s East End will be transformed into a summer extravaganza over eight exhilarating Fridays in December and January, featuring an outdoor cinema, markets, street performers, mobile food carts and entertainment galore.

Thanks to the support of Palace Nova Cinemas, an outdoor cinema positioned in Union Street will be a highlight of the evenings, where movies such as locally produced film Spank!, short films, and classic PG rated favourites, Big, The Goonies and Napoleon Dynamite will be screened.

Mobile food stalls including the popular Burger Theory burger van, Squid Inc, Royal Copenhagen ice cream and Kettle Corn popcorn will be located near the cinema allowing visitors easy access to entertainment and catering.

Ebenezer Place will be the site of "The Local" street market which will feature vintage clothing stalls and a DJ playing tunes until 10pm.

Other entertainment will include free table tennis tables, chess exhibitions by The Chess Society, poetry performances and roving street entertainment.

Leading up to Christmas, Summer Fridays in the East End will also feature performances from roving carol singers from the Adelaide University Choral Society and Adelaide's popular piano busker playing Christmas favourites.

A roving photographer will be on hand to take photos of attendees to post on Facebook for the chance to win prizes donated by East End traders.

Summer Fridays in the East End is an initiative of the East End Coordination Group, a volunteer group of local traders and residents. The event is supported by an Adelaide City Council City Activation Grant, as part of a pilot program to activate the City’s precincts over summer, and also the Maras Group.
