It’s fig harvest season, and what better way to enjoy this lusciously sweet fruit than with Glen Ewin Estate! With four different fig-tastic events, you’ll have enough figs to last you a lifetime (or at least until next fig season). You won’t feel guilty after indulging yourself either, because figs are chock-a-block full of dietary fibre – so they may even help you lose weight!
Glen Ewin’s fig orchard comprises 12,000 trees and is one of the largest in Australia. It includes the following varieties: Archipel, Brown Turnkey, Spanish Dessert, Deanna and Black Genoa.
The fig season kicks off with Pick Your Own, running from Saturday 4th February to 31st March. Picking will be available from 9am – 3pm (last pick at 2pm) 7 days a week.
Every Thursday night the orchard will come to life with the Fig Bar. Visitors can indulge in local produce and fig cocktails provided by our resident mixologist while relaxing under the canopy of the plane trees and listening to our live DJ.
In addition Glen Ewin Estate will be hosting two indulgent events to celebrate the fig season:
- Bring your loved one’s to the estate on Valentines’s Day for Orchard Love. As the sun sets, enjoy a hamper for two including all the figs you can eat and a bottle of Gatehouse Sparkling.
- Our annual Fignic will be held at the end of harvest on the 19th March. Guests can enjoy a picnic in the orchard, live music, live oyster shucking, the fig shop and, of course, all things figs!!
