Best known for its very Australian lamingtons, Kytons Bakery has branched out, baking a product that originates from the other side of the world – Belgian Waffles. “Kytons bught the La Waffle business just over 12 months ago, but at the time the business was just servicing the café side of the market, with boxes of 30 waffles. We’ve spent the last 12 months perfeting our waffle-making skills and developing a 4-pack that we are delighted to have launched at this year’s Royal Adelaide Swho” said Kytons owner Sharon Sutton.

La Waffles differ from many of the waffles currently found in the market, as they are made from a traditional Belgian recipe using pearl sugar – little nuggets of sugar that are mixed into the dough, that when baked camamelise to add a golden, crunchy texture to the outside of the waffle, and a fabulous aroma to your kitchen. “La Waffles are decadent and delicious” describes Sharon, “perfect for a special breakfast of treat”.

La Waffles are pre-baked, so they are easily reheated in a domestic toaster in just a few minutes, and even though La Waffles are sweet, they can be used with either sweet or savoury toppings. Everything from salty bacon to fresh berries go with waffles! Sharon goes on to say “we think they taste even better when served with other SA products. Beerenberg Chocolate Sauce, Golden North Ice Cream or La Casa Vailla Bean Double Cream are some of the products we’ve tried with La Waffles (and loved!).”

Kytons has chosen the Royal Adelaide Show to launch this new product. “This is actually our 10th year having a stand in the Taste SA tent, and it offers us a fantastic opportunity to introduce thousands of show visitors to La Waffle and to demonstrate how to use the product in their own kitchens. We’ll have tastings of La Waffle, as well as displays of some of the serving suggestions we have tried.”

Show goers will also be able to purchase La Waffle, lamingtons and Kytons Christmas Pudding, which has won first prize at the Royal Show the last two years, from the Kytons show stand.

La Waffle will also launch into selected Foodland stores this week, and will be available from Kytons’ retail outlet at Edwardstown, as well as many of the other Kytons’ stockists around Adelaide
