Enter This Battle Of The Bands At The Arkaba And Win A $6k Prize

The Arkaba is hosting an online battle of the bands competition to find and nurture Adelaide’s best up and coming original bands, with a $6,000 prize up for grabs.

The Arkaba Hotel is looking to continue their strong support of live music in Adelaide during COVID-19 social restrictions with ‘BLOOM’ – an online battle of the bands competition finding and nurturing Adelaide’s best up and coming original bands.

Three bands will vie for the proverbial win, through performances at the Arkaba which will be streamed to the public, who will then vote for their final favourite.

All entries will be judged by trusted Adelaide Fringe Chairman, David Mniear, Ben Harvey, Liam Stapleton of Nova 919 fame, Sean Robertson from Milk & Honey Studios, and Jack Jericho who is the Hurley Hotel Group entertainment manager.

The performances will be professionally mixed and filmed at the Top of the Arkaba.

Initial entry to the competition is by way of an online submission. From these submissions nine upcoming South Australian bands will be selected to perform live at Arkaba Hotel.

Live performances will be split over 3 heats which will be broadcast online, each heat showcasing 3 of the selected bands. Each band will perform 3 songs, at least 2 of which must be original compositions.

Heats will be broadcast Friday nights from 8pm on the Arkaba Hotel Facebook page (and shareable to each band’s page).

  • Heat 1 – Friday 12/6/2020
  • Heat 2 – Friday 19/6/2020
  • Heat 3 – Friday 26/6/2020
  • Grand Final – Friday 3/7/2020

The heats and final will be pre-recorded earlier in the week of broadcast with a professional audio engineer and camera operators.

Each band will be allocated separate time slots to bump-in, record and bump-out to ensure there is no breach of COVID-19 government social distancing regulations.

After each heat is broadcast the general public will be invited to vote for their favourite band.

The three heat winners will be required to record one more performance for the Grand Final decider.

Entries for the competition will close on the 31 of May 2020, and the judging will take place the week following each broadcast. Winners will be announced on the Arkaba Hotel Facebook page.

The winner of the Grand Final will receive $3,000 cash. They will also win professional song recording and tracking at Mix Masters Studios plus post production, editing, mixing and mastering at Milk & Honey Studios worth $3,000, making the total winning prize worth $6,000.

Winner will be announced on the Arkaba Hotel Facebook page Monday 6 of July 2020 at 4pm.
