On the banks of the Murray, lies a private, luxury escape that must be seen to be believed. Standing tall overlooking the iconic river, the three lavish lodges that make up ‘The Frames’ are an impressive sight that only continue to wow once you step inside.
Made for two – four guests, each structure is its own private retreat, each complete with its own private pool and spa and sauna as well as unrivalled views to truly immerse yourself in the beauty of the Riverland. The complete privacy of your retreat ensures total peace and tranquillity for the duration of your stay meaning you can completely let go and relax in your own space.
More than just a retreat, a visit to The Frames is a chance to experience the serenity of the Riverland – a region that often goes unrecognised. Cathy and Rick Edmonds love the Riverland. It’s their home – always has been – and it was their pure love for the region that drove them to open the luxury haven seven years ago.
“We’ve lived in the Riverland our whole lives, in fact, we’re third generation,” explains Cathy. “We love the area and we built The Frames so that we could share this with others and show them just how amazing the area is and all the great things on offer here.
“There seems to be this stigma around the Riverland that there’s nothing to do and we often get overlooked as a region but there are so many amazing, young entrepreneurs that are starting fantastic businesses here as well as the nature-based activities, and we want people to experience that.”
Cathy and Rick’s passion is evident throughout any trip to The Frames and their knowledge of the area offers a unique quality to your stay.
“We built the entire property and we are the ones running it – we’re very hands on with the business and it makes a big difference that we know the area and are the ones driving it,” says Cathy.
Cathy and Rick have created a series of private, one-of-a-kind tours available only to guests giving visitors of The Frames an exclusive insight to the area from the eyes of a true and passionate local.
Discover the abundant wildlife and birdlife on our Wetland and Wildlife Safari or a sunset gondola cruise down the Murray or familiarise yourself with the vast diversity of produce from the Riverland through “Flavour Safari” – a guided tour where you’ll meet the makers and learn just why the region has been dubbed “the food bowl of South Australia”.
“The beauty of our tours is that we created all of the experiences and run them ourselves so we can tailor them to meet the needs of our guests,” explains Cathy.
“If you like to sleep in, we’ll leave later. If you love birds, we’ll take a route that is known for birdwatching, the options are endless, and it allows for a truly personal experience.”
The popularity of wellness retreats has increased dramatically over the past few years as people look to offset their busy and stressful schedules with a timely getaway, and The Frames offers just that, but in a less brash or intimidating way.
“We sort of became a wellness retreat without realising. Everything out here is wellness. Being out in nature does wonders, sitting on the balcony or a beautiful boat trip– it’s all so soothing. We see it every day, people’s shoulders just drop as we’re going along the river, you just see them instantly relax.”
As third-generation citrus farmers, Cathy and Rick have infused the fruit throughout the property for a personal and local touch. Dried citrus, hand-dipped in chocolate awaits you on your pillow while fresh orange juice is readily available for all guests. Each retreat also has its own citrus tree planted within for a little but meaningful reconnection back to the property’s roots.
The Frames is located at Lot 7 Panorama Court, Paringa, South Australia.
