This morning, SA’s Labor Party released a statement discussing the state’s plan for easing restrictions in time for the approaching March election.

Alongside the statement, it was revealed that certain dates have been pencilled in for when South Australian’s can expect to see the next slate of COVID-19 restrictions dissolve.

Restrictions and rules on activities are expected to be scrapped on February 15, February 29 and March 15 – four days before the State Election.

SA Premier Steven Marshall has previously disclosed at press conferences that South Australia can expect to see restrictions ease in two-week increments.

The first set of rules to go was the requirement for QR-check ins at retail businesses and the doubling of density restrictions, increasing to 50 per cent indoors for hospitality venues.

“I know people in SA want to support the hospitality sector, this is their chance to go out and make those reservations,” Marshall said at the January 28 press conference.

“There are lots of things we can move but can’t move them all at once.”

As to what restrictions South Australia could see eased this Friday – a fortnight since January 28 – Marshall has previously stated that the hospitality sector was a key focus for state government and the COVID-19 committee.

Marshall has previously disclosed late last week that potential restrictions to dissolve could be around current function capacity.

As the Adelaide Fringe Festival inches closer, Marshall has also discussed the easing of restrictions in order to let the beloved Mad March and festival season go ahead as planned.

In a change of plans, Marshall announced he will not be discussing COVID-19 in today’s conference, as the stats were not ready to be disclosed. This was further confirmed late last week, with the Premier stating that the morning press conferences will focus less on COVID-19, with the statistics only to be discussed if they are available.
