Etica Opens New Pizza-By-The-Slice Venue

Etica Pizza al Taglio (which means by the slice) opened its doors this week on Halifax Street and already has tastebuds tingling around Adelaide.

The sister restaurant to Etica Pizza Napolitana run by Federico and Melissa Pisanelli, this new venture sees the couple exploring a new angle to the world’s arguably most popular dish.
Rather than the conventional method of preparation, the pizza at the new Halifax St spot is served on long rectangular trays and can be bought by the slice which is awesome for people who are indecisive or looking for a quick bite to eat. The style here is also slightly different from the traditional Etica Neapolitan fanfare with thicker crusts by the looks of things. The menu will vary from day to day, which no doubt, will see pizza aficionados return time and time again, especially those familiar with the first Etica.

As always the wine list is fantastic, with a few of our more recent favourites like BK Wines, Alpha Box & Dice and rising star Frederick Stevenson, as well some choice internationals to round off the list.
Rather than just add this to your list of night time dining options, we suggest dropping by for an affordable slice during your lunch break, or going in with your workmates and bringing back a slab to share.
We have to point out the elephant cow in the room too.
It seems the focus at Etica Pizza al Taglio goes beyond what just goes on your plate, to where your food originates from. While we’re feeling mixed emotions about the cow that’s dramatically suspended by its hind legs from from the ceiling, we’re open to the idea that it’s highlighting the importance of ethical treatment of animals.
The venue is designed purposefully to reflect a slaughterhouse x glasshouse, Etica: Pizza al Taglio is dominated by themes of confrontation and transparency. Read the fascinating reasoning behind this here.
What we are loving however, is the light that floods in through the gorgeous glass front, exposed stone walls and timber, pulled together by designer Oxigen’s James Hayter.
