It’s been a lengthy sixteen months, but local artist Sam Brooks has now completed his new silo art project in Eudunda, ready for locals and tourists alike to adore.

‘Eudunda: The Storytime Silos’, features through incredible 30-metre-tall silos and is based on a story written by local author, Colin Thiele ‘The Sun on the Stubble’. The book tells a story about two children sharing stories about their past and culture that invokes playfulness, open-mindedness and joy that we see in children.

The Ngadjuri story book was made in collaboration with local Elder and Ngadjuri spokesperson Quentin Aeguis. It show cases a summary of the area and connects to the culture, customs, people and lifestyle present today and in the past.

“I wanted to paint something that was more than just local history, but a piece that can hopefully impact culture on a broader scale”, says Brooks.

He’s worked hard to capture as much history of Eudunda as possible as well as the rural life to show the deep routes. When you walk through the town you will see the artefacts that Brooks has captured in his art such as the ‘historical red string’ and the story about the eagle and the crow, which you can learn about form Quentin himself.

With the side-by-side stories, Brooks hopes to encourage the viewer into a whole new world of mystery, adventure and curiosity. He aimed to push the limits of his silo art in ways no one has ever done before, and it’s definitely reached expectations that you must see in person.

The story book is only one part of Eudunda’s huge history but creates such an impact that will hopefully get you feeling connected to the culture. Brooks urges visitors to take a tour of the silos and the area with Quentin himself.
