European-inspired taphouse, Brightstar Brewing, to host inaugural Oktoberfest party

Brightstar Brewing will be serving site-brewed Mårzen lager and Hefeweizen on the day, as well as hosting a round of Masskrugstemmen.

Friends don’t let friends go thirsty, so Brightstar Brewing’s inaugural Oktoberfest is the pitcher perfect event to add to your social calendar.

The European-inspired brewery and taphouse, which first opened its doors in March this year, will be serving up all the beer necessities for an authentic, enjoyable Oktoberfest to make the likes of Munich jealous.

All guests will be greeted at the door with a fresh pretzel and an authentic 500mL ISAR half-stein, filled to the brim with traditional Oktoberfest beers the venue brews itself. Megan from Brightstar Brewing says this is what makes Brightstar’s Oktoberfest stand out from the crowd.

“What sets us apart from other Oktoberfest events (in Adelaide) is that we’re the only venue to be producing our own traditional Oktoberfest beers, rather than importing,” says Meagan.

“We have already started producing our Mårzen lager which is uniquely conditioned for 8 weeks like our other lagers. We also will be brewing a Hefeweizen as well especially for the day.”

The adult-only event promises a day of authentic Oktoberfest food, Bavarian dancers, contests, pretzels, bratwurst, and more. So, leave the kids at home, pull on your lederhosen and experience one of Germany’s most beloved traditions.

“We are a European inspired brewery hence the perfect alignment to Oktoberfest and its celebration.  We’re holding the event on Sept 17 because traditionally this is the date that the event opens in Munich,” says Meagan.

“We were inspired by the traditions of Oktoberfest and as such we’ll have live music from a genuine Oompah band and performances from Adelaide’s own traditional Bavarian dancers, Bund der Bayern.”

If live music and performances weren’t enough, Brightstar will also be hosting a game of Masskrugstemmen – a traditional Bavarian beer stein holding contest. The endurance competition challenges contestants to hold a stein of beer in one hand, outstretched, for as long as possible.

Challenge your mates to a round of Masskrugstemmen and achieve eternal bragging rights in your success! See how long you last in the deceivingly challenging game, which has a world record of 21 minutes and 17 seconds!

Win or lose, Oktoberfesters will be able to wash down their beer with some fantastisch dishes catered by Simply Flammekueche. The Adelaide food truck specialises in Flammekueche, which is a pizza-style dish hailing from Alsace – a region alongside the border of eastern France and western Germany.

Pick from traditional, cheesy leek, Aussie BBQ, vegan or meaty topping options, as well as sample the bratwurst, soups and brezel and obazda – a spiced camembert dip.
