The City of Holdfast Bay is inviting all South Australians to take some time on Proclamation Day – the day we remember the official beginnings of the colony of South Australia – to gather together and honour our community and its future.

Mayor of the City of Holdfast Bay Ken Rollond said that it’s a special day for all South Australians.
“It’s a day when we can come together to not only remember how our State was established, but also to build upon what we know so that everyone can move forward together for a better future.”
Mayor Rollond said that Holdfast Bay Council feels the responsibility of not only being the place where our State was born, but is also aware of its responsibility to help build understanding between all the peoples of South Australia.
The formal ceremony will begin at 9.15am on Tuesday 28 December at the Old Gum Tree Reserve, McFarlane Street, Glenelg North, and will be followed by a community celebration with a free barbecue, music and entertainment, and will conclude at 12.30pm.
