The Winter Olympic Games have arrived, with Beijing’s opening ceremony kicking off tonight, it is sure to be a jam-packed 16 days filled with exciting sports, record-breaking ski-sprints, and heart-pounding bobsledding.

While the Games this year will be held with limited spectators, the opening ceremony is still going ahead as planned in what is sure to be a once-in-a-lifetime event. In light of the missing crowds, the theme for this year’s ceremony is “together for a shared future.”

With the closing ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 games occurring just 180 days ago, the Olympic spirit is still in the air and just as anticipated as the last games, so here is everything we know about the opening ceremony tonight, and how to enjoy it in style.

WHERE TO WATCH

Throughout the Olympic period, the Games will be broadcasted Australia-wide on free-to-air channels Seven. You can also watch the Olympics online on Seven’s streaming platform 7Plus.

The opening ceremony will air tonight on Channel Seven at 10:30 pm ACDT, so make sure you’ve got your popcorn ready for what is sure to be a spectacular event.

Whilst this year’s hosts have dropped some hints about what to expect tonight, we still don’t know all the details. What we do know is to expect a shorter than usual ceremony due to the freezing temperatures in Beijing.

We do know that Laura Peel and Brendan Kerry will be Australia’s flag bearers and led our nation into the games.
