Exciting changes at The Bond Store as new owners take the helm

The Bond Store at Wallaroo on the Copper Coast, is under new ownership, but it will be business as usual, as the team remains unchanged.

When culinary brilliance and country hospitality collide, you get an upmarket yet down-to-earth seaside venue like The Bond Store at Wallaroo.

The Bond Store combines a multi-level tapas-style Restaurant, Microbrewery and Gin Distillery, in the coastal town’s iconic 1865-built Elands Bonded Store, and the outcome rates highly with foodies and brewed beverage connoisseurs, earning The Bond Store a 4.7 star Google review.

While the bustling-business has recently announced it is under new ownership, the exciting news is that the quality food and exceptional service will remain the same, with the reins being handed to Andrea Lannucci and Elisa D’Aminco, who’ve been leaving their trademark on the The Bond Store since 2021.

The original creators, Derek and Nicole Matthewman, say they have complete faith in Andrea and Elisa and The Bond Store team and believe they’ll take the business to “new heights of excellence”.

Italian born chef, Andrea, is no novice in the kitchen, having worked in one of the world’s most recognised Japanese restaurants, Nobu in London, as well as Michelin Star awarded restaurants in Rome.

The couple have worked closely with the Matthewmans over the past year, to learn the secrets to distilling The Bond Store’s award winning range of gins and liqueurs.

Head brewer, Luke Kretschmer, will continue to mix his passion with skill, running the successful microbrewery which took out 7 medals at the 2022 Adelaide Beer Awards.

The Bond Store’s fit out is modern industrial, designed to promote interaction between visitors- with the Microbrewery’s stainless-steel tanks acting as a backdrop to the Brewery Bar and Restaurant, while the 500L copper still (named Ginger), serves as a centrepiece of the downstairs Gin Bar.

The Brewery Bar features twelve taps, with Bond Store on offer, as well as guest taps serving other South Australian craft beers.

The Bond Store’s menu is in constant rotation with an emphasises on providing the freshest seasonal local produce.

The charcoal grill “Parilla”, is a key feature of the kitchen, enhancing the flavour of their renowned steaks and locally caught seafood.

Among the Winter favourites are succulent and juicy Scallops, Pork bites with Hoisin sauce, Chips with Truffle oil and shaved Grana Padano and Crispy Pork Dumplings with Chilli oil.

For Elisa, who came to Australia to learn English a decade ago- being part of Wallaroo’s country coastal community, and a thriving hospitality business that combines all the flavours of the City, with the casual vibe of the country community, is a blend of perfection.

Bookings are recommended to avoid disappointment, with two sitting times during the Summer months.
