Drink Exclusive Whiskey As Clever Little Tailor Prepares To Party

This Saturday night, the only South Australian bar to be joining the worldwide celebration of #ArdbegDay are the newly minted local Embassy, Clever Little Tailor.

Let’s not beat around the bush, if you move beyond your standard petrol flavored mass market labels, classic whiskey is still kind of the dirty old man’s drink at your local bar right now. Sure, you might indulge in a nip or two in the privacy of your favourite sitting chair, but out on the town you’re more likely to catch a stately gentleman with wandering eyes seated solo and nursing a neat glass than you are to make it your first port of call for the night.

But that’s not what Ardbeg are about. For over 200 years the Ardbeg range of malts has been made on the small, remote Scottish Isle of Islay. Some people travel to Ardbeg along the winding road from Port Ellen. Others travel to the distillery in spirit through their exclusive Embassy locations (basically bar’s approved to stock and serve their range) dotted around the world.

Now every year on May 28th each Embassy celebrates the birth of the distillery by connecting in only the way the Internet generation can – through hashtags and live streamed parties where people toast to the shrine of Ardbeg and enjoy some exclusive special releases delivered to each Embassy under lock and key prior to the day.

This Saturday night, the only South Australian bar who will be be joining this technologically connected worldwide celebration of booze are the crew of Peel Street mecca Clever Little Tailor. Having just been approved at this State’s only Ardbeg Embassy just in time for the 201st birthday of the distillery, there will be cheese matching, specially made Ardbeg chocolates from Steven De Horst, oysters, tunes, a themed transformation of the bar and most importantly, a very special Ardbeg whiskey release available on this night.

Even if you’re not a whiskey lover, options such as a delicious fresh apple and ginger mix will be available.

Nerds will turn their attention however, to the Dark Cove specialty release for this year. Nobody outside of Ardbeg will be able to taste it prior to the night, adding to the allure of enjoying a nip. If you like what you taste, CLT have been granted a special retail license for the night so you can take a bottle of this premium spirit home that night, before it hits the shelves anywhere else. How’s that for exclusive?

No tickets are necessary, no RSVP required and you don’t need to be a whiskey nerd to get involved in this one. You just need to know how to search the #ArdbegDay hashtag to connect yourself to a worldwide community all drinking the same whiskey, at the same time.
