With approximately 30% of Australians born overseas, Australia has become one of the most multicultural countries in the world, uniting an incredible array of ethnicities, cultures, beliefs, cuisines, and backgrounds. In this melting pot of multiculturalism, we are able to experience traditions and celebrations from all over the world in our own backyard, with Adelaide being home to an abundance of festivals showcasing international food and drinks, world music, and culture.
If you’ve been wanting to indulge in some cultural experiences and learn more about the endless variety of international cultures, cuisines, and lifestyles, then we’ve got the perfect day trip idea for you. Head down to Four Oaks Farm in Littlehampton for Cultured.2024, an exciting one-day festival that celebrates international culture in a range of interesting ways.

Cultured is a unique event celebrating the lives of those of a multicultural background in South Australia. Come along and get involved in a range of areas including food, talks, performance, cooking classes and purchasing from those skilled in making and creating. Held in the scenic Adelaide Hills, you can take in the peace and tranquility in a country, farm life environment while engaging in all the intriguing activities.
On the day, international chef Meshek (who once shared a kitchen with Jamie Oliver) will be running cooking demonstrations as well as the multicultural dinner in the evening. There will also be a range of markets and food stalls available for additional eats and treats, and a variety of activities for children and families, such as tie-dye making, hands-on drumming, flag making, and Japanese paper craft.

Live music will be on display from Ozwietie, an Adelaide-based world music party band that combines Caribbean roots reggae, South American salsa, funk, soul and blues to create a contemporary Afro-fusion sound. Andrew McNicol from Arts Excentrix will also be performing with a selection of international instruments.
You can also see the farm animals on site, sit under the shady gum trees with something to eat and rest on the lawns at the farm taking in the event vibe and coming home with a feeling of awareness and better understanding.
As if that wasn’t enough, this event is also dirt cheap! Tickets for adults are only $5, and under 18s get in free. If you’ve been itching for a multicultural fix and can’t wait till March 2025 for WOMAD, take a trip up to Four Oaks Farm on Saturday, November 23rd for Cultured.2024.
