McLaren Vale winery Coriole Vineyards has appointed a new head chef at its on-site restaurant. Patricia (Patty) Streckfuss will lead the Coriole kitchen in a new chapter for the restaurant.

Patty began her career in Melbourne and gained experience at some of the hatted restaurants in the city. She returned to Adelaide in 2010, working at Andre’s Cucina, Restaurant Orana and Africola.

She’s also internationally renowned having worked at restaurants in New York, Copenhagen and Yorkshire in recent years.

Coriole’s General Manager, Peter Lloyd, says Patty will be an excellent fit for the restaurant, which has a long history of serving up local produce to guests who want to experience McLaren Vale’s beautiful food and wine.

“Patty has a wealth of experience in the South Australian food industry, as well as restaurants all around the world. She is genuinely passionate about using local produce and creating innovative food,” he says.

“We love hosting guests at Coriole, having them experience our beautiful part of the world. Our on-site restaurant allows them to experience our wines alongside local food – including our own Coriole food produce such as olives, olive oils and vinegars.”

Patty says she was drawn to the role at Coriole due to the restaurant’s connection to the provenance of the ingredients being used. “I love working closely and directly with local organic growers, implementing menus based on what they are producing and have available. At Coriole, I’ll also be using produce harvested directly from the restaurant’s own on-site kitchen garden and farm in McLaren Flat,” says Patty.

“I grew up locally and I love McLaren Vale and the Fleurieu Peninsula, I’m very excited to work with the Coriole team as part of a diverse and dynamic organisation.”

Coriole has hosted guests at its on-site restaurant since the late 1990s, serving up wood-oven bread and cheese platters before evolving to a formal dining restaurant. Patty takes over from Tom Tilbury, who was head chef at the Gather at Coriole restaurant kitchen for four years.

The Coriole restaurant has achieved a number of awards and accolades including number one in the delicious food guide in 2019
