What’s better than enjoying drinks and beautiful food with friends, family or workmates? Doing it with a twist of adventure.
The city is bustling with vibrancy, which means it’s a perfect time to relax along the river with a drink in hand. And you can do just that, on these amazing self-driven, donut shaped boats.

Right in the heart of Adelaide, BBQ Buoys have rewritten the rules for fun. The recreational boats give locals and tourists alike the chance to take in the city while floating down the River Torrens, glass of vino in hand.
The Buoys come with either a BBQ or table in the middle, have a wide selection of drinks available and can fit up to 10 people per boat.
With a whole range of food packages for you to enjoy on the ride. There’s the BBQ feast, where you can feed your gang with in a big way for just $30pp. There’s also the Breakfast of Champs, with hash browns, bacon, egg, veggies, fruit and pastries.
If you’re after something a little smaller – but no less delicious – there’s the meat and cheese platter and the sweet platter. Medium platters come in at just $100, or you can size up for an extra $60. Alternatively, you can bring your own snacks!
To go along with whatever snacks you choose is a dizzying array of drinks to choose from. There are wine packages, beer packages, and cocktail corner, including the creamy espresso martini, a French martini, the classic cosmopolitan and, of course, the beloved margarita.
If you don’t drink, they’ve got you covered too, with a 0% Italian spritz cocktail, 0% Italian sparkling wine & Heineken 0% beer.

It’s a beautiful way of seeing Adelaide, as you float along the Torrens alongside SkyCity Adelaide, next to Elder Park and right down toward Red Ochre Bar and Grill. You might even see a turtle, basking itself in the sun on the riverbank.
If you’re a little hesitant about the idea of operating the BBQ Buoy, don’t be. One of your guests will be given instructions on how to steer and operate the buoy. They just have to be under the legal blood alcohol limit and have a drivers license. No boat license required. Simple as that!

This company is owned by Tony & Lidija Shuman who also operate Popeye River Cruises & Captain Jolleys Paddle Boats along the Torrens River. They run businesses that showcase South Australia and proudly stock South Australian beers, wines and local produce on board.
It is also worth noting that the BBQ Buoys staff are flexible when working with times and dates, so feel free to get in touch with the friendly staff.
It’s the best way to see Adelaide from a different angle. Cheers to that.
