The Adelaide Hills has been bursting lately with new distilleries, so what better way to celebrate than by enjoying the old and the new with your very own gin trail.
We’ve sourced all the information you will need to have a glorious Winter’s day out in the Adelaide Hills.
You might like to start your gin tasting experience at a South Australian icon. Glen Ewin Estate has been going strong for almost 150 years, and is known as a premier wedding venue. So as you can imagine, the estate has beautiful grounds. With sweeping lawns and expansive lakes, this is an epic view for a gin tasting.
Their gin tasting flight will cost you $22 and features four Hand-Crafter Estate Spirits; their signature fig gin, fig aperitif, orchard gin, and the orange sloe gin.
The cellar door is open Thursdays to Sundays from 11am to 2:30pm.

Route 9 Distillery is set to be a new favourite, with their new cellar door and bar opening on Saturday June 11 – just in time to celebrate World Gin Day.
The new spot will be a hybrid of a cellar door and a world-class bar, with a phenomenal list of local and international of wines and spirits.
For the gin lovers, you will be able to try the two new Square1 gin flavours they will be launching on Saturday 11 June, with a third flavour likely to follow in the Spring.
It will be open to visitors from Saturday 11 June between 12:00pm – 5:00pm.
The new Route 9 cellar door is located at 37 Onkaparinga Valley Road, Balhannah 5242.
Lot 100 – 78 Degrees Distillery
Lot 100 is an 84 hectare property nestled just north of Nairne, in the Adelaide Hills. What was once a cattle pasture has now transformed into a collective home that celebrates craft, sustainability and local produce.
One of its residents, 78 Degrees Distillery, has created a strong reputation for producing high quality small batch gin showing unique Australian characteristics.
To try the gin for yourself you can visit Lot 100 from Thursdays to Sundays between 11am and 5pm.

Located at the start of Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills, Ambleside has gin tastings and cocktails to suit everyone’s tastes. Light share food is also available to accompany your drinks. You can try the gin tasting flight for $21 per person, where on of their gin experts will guide you through the core range and the paired garnishes. You will also have a gorgeous view of the hills while you sip your gin.
The cellar door is open for tastings Thursdays to Mondays. Weekdays they are open from 12pm to 6pm, and on weekends you can visit between 11am and 6pm.
Ambleside is located at 1 Ambleside Rd, Hahndorf, SA 5245.
Grünthal Microbrewery is the ultimate spot for delicious gin, craft beer, artisan cheese, and local wine. This is a perfect stop along your trail if you’re traveling with someone who perhaps would like a break from gin, as their beer and wine options are just as good as their gin.
As this is a gin trail guide, we do need to mention the gin tasting option. You can try all three gins for $21, all served with matching garnishes and tonic. The three gins on offer are the classic gin, the hot pink gin, and the botanical blue gin.

This sustainability-focused distillery nestled in the Adelaide Hills is the ideal place to spend a cold winter’s day as you enjoy a delicious gin.
Try their range of spirits with a tasting flight that highlights how they use native botanicals to craft the products. A gin tasting starts from $20 featuring three of their spirits.
Applewood Distillery is open everyday except Christmas Day from 12pm-5pm on weekdays, and 12pm-6pm on weekends and located at 24 Victoria Street, Gumeracha SA.
