This February, ‘HEY DJ – A History of Hip Hop’ will touch down at the Adelaide Fringe, bringing with it electrifying performances from DJ, YO! MAFIA and a lineup of MCs, vocalists, and dancers. Set to unfold at The Flamingo in Gluttony, beginning on Friday, February 28th for three weekends in February and March, the show promises to captivate attendees.
‘HEY DJ – A History of Hip Hop’ will explore the evolution of hip hop from its origins in the Bronx to its current status as a global cultural phenomenon. The event is any hip hop lovers dream, taking audiences on a journey through the historical and cultural significance of hip hop.
Born and raised in Adelaide, before moving to Melbourne in her late teens, YO! MAFIA brings it all the way back in this full circle moment, debuting her new show “HEY DJ – A History In Hip Hop”. YO! MAFIA brings 25 years of DJing expertise to the decks, guaranteeing an epic experience. With a deep love for hip hop culture and killer skills to match, she’s all about bringing the vibes and keeping the party alive.

The lineup for the event includes not only YO! MAFIA but also Eliza Wolfgramm, known for her work with The Avalanches and The Wolfgramm Sisters, and MC KIRK, a staple in Adelaide’s hip hop scene, will be joined by some of Adelaide’s premier Bboys and Hip Hop dancers to round out this epic cast!
The show will blend live performances with an array of multimedia elements such as historical footage, interviews, and visuals. These elements will explore hip hop’s roots and its continual influence on various aspects of society.
