Forecast wild weather across South Australia has prompted a state-wide Code Blue response for people sleeping rough to seek additional support and shelter overnight.

During a Code Blue activation, Housing SA, together with its non-government partners, makes additional accommodation available for extended hours for people sleeping rough.

South Australians sleeping rough can seek help at:

• Westcare (Baptist Care SA) will be open Tuesday for overnight accommodation. The Westcare Centre is located at 11/19 Millers Ct Adelaide.

• Street to Home will be offering additional outreach services to people sleeping rough on Tuesday.

• Trace-A-Place (SYC) will extend their operating hours till 7pm Tuesday. They are located at 135 Currie St, Adelaide.

• For South Australians in the regions, the Homelessness Gateway Service will continue to operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Anyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness is encouraged to contact the Homelessness Gateway on 1800 003 308.

“A severe weather warning has been forecast across South Australia – and that’s why, we, together with our homelessness partners, will be activating a state-wide Code Blue tonight so people sleeping rough can seek support and shelter from the wild weather,” said Minister Lensink.

“People who are experiencing homelessness in these regions and need assistance to take shelter from these conditions can call the Homelessness Gateway on 1800 003 308. This number operates 24/7, every day of the year.

“Thank you to everyone working hard on the ground supporting our most vulnerable South Australians at a time when they need it.”
