F1 star Valtteri Bottas and cyclist Tiffany Cromwell bring RADL GRVL back to 2025 Santos Tour Down Under

Formula One’s Valtteri Bottas and cyclist Tiffany Cromwell have announced the return of RADL GRVL to the 2025 Santos Tour Down Under.

After an incredibly successful debut earlier this year, the Santos Tour Down Under has announced that the RADL GRVL will be back for round two in January 2025! This exciting gravel cycling event will once again be a highlight of the renowned cycling tour, with participants converging on Adelaide from January 22nd to 26th.

The 2024 RADL GRVL was a real showstopper, featuring a thrilling competitive ride that attracted both pro and amateur cyclists from across the globe. The event is the brainchild of a passionate trio: Formula One star Valtteri Bottas, South Australian pro cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, and Amy Charity, a former pro cyclist and CEO of GRVL Events.

The gravel cycling extravaganza kicks off with a series of fun activities, including ride-outs, an expo, and a Pro Panel, designed to get everyone in the GRVL spirit. The main event, the competitive ride, takes place on Friday, January 23rd, winding its way through the picturesque McLaren Vale wine region – just a short hop from Adelaide’s city centre.

RADL GRVL not only puts Adelaide on the map as a top-tier cycling destination but also benefits from being held alongside the UCI World Tour’s first major road race of the year. This unique timing attracts an international crowd of cyclists eager to experience South Australia’s legendary tracks and trails.

Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison spoke about the significance of events like RADL GRVL, saying, “The inaugural event attracted riders globally, enhancing our visitor economy and showcasing what South Australia has to offer.” She’s looking forward to seeing the event grow and welcoming back even more enthusiastic riders in 2025.

Valtteri Bottas is buzzing about the event’s return: “I’ve never been shy about my love for South Australia; I absolutely love riding there and love the culture that Adelaide has, especially as a cycling destination.”

Tiffany Cromwell is equally proud to bring the event to her home state: “It is such an honour to contribute to the strong cycling community where I grew up.” She said that RADL GRVL is for everyone, inviting cyclists of all levels to join in the fun.

Amy Charity of GRVL Events sees huge potential for the event, especially with gravel cycling’s growing popularity. She expects to attract a diverse group of participants, further cementing RADL GRVL’s place as a premier event on the international cycling calendar.

If you’re keen to get involved, early bird registrations open on Thursday, September 12th. The Santos Tour Down Under and RADL GRVL promise an unforgettable experience for cycling fans, taking place in Adelaide and regional South Australia from January 17th to 26th, 2025.
