Adelaide couture house Paolo Sebastian has once again come to life on an international stage, with Hollywood star Michelle Rodriguez stepping out at the 79th Cannes Film Festival in a breathtaking look from the brand’s Polvere Di Stelle collection.

Known globally for her powerhouse roles in Fast & Furious, Avatar and Resident Evil, Michelle wore a sculptural column gown adorned with star-fall crystal embellishment and a flowing tulle overskirt. This was a dramatic, ethereal silhouette that really captured the spirit of cinematic glamour on the Cannes red carpet.

The look, styled by Natalie Saidi, was drawn from Paolo Sebastian’s 2025 Spring/Summer Couture collection, Polvere Di Stelle, Italian for ‘stardust’, is a dreamlike body of work that blends romance, fantasy and high couture craftsmanship.

“Polvere Di Stelle is a mystical and glamorous collection with a vintage-infused colour palette of twilight, moonstone, lattementa, rosa alabastro, and pearl,” shared the Paolo Sebastian team. “Elegance meets extravagance with a dreamy combination of illusion tulle, feminine waistlines, and romantic soft bust silhouettes, seamlessly balanced with sharp hip lines, showstopping crystal beadwork, and dramatic corsetry.”

The collection tells the story of a celestial maiden who falls from the stars, leaving behind a trail of stardust as she moves between heaven and earth, a poetic narrative reflected in every detail of the garments.

The gown worn by Michelle embodies that vision in full. It’s a sleek, sculpted column silhouette layered with delicate star-like embellishment and a sweeping tulle overskirt that moves like a constellation in motion.

Michelle’s appearance in Paolo Sebastian is not the only sighting at Cannes. The beautiful Alexandra Leclerc, wife of Formula One driver Charles Leclerc, wore a stunning tiered, embellished gown with scallop detail from Paolo Sebastian’s 2026 Spring/Summer Couture Forget Me Not collection.

“To know that our gowns are featured on that global stage is so wonderful and never gets old. We are also extremely thrilled to get to do this all from Adelaide,” said Creative Director and Designer, Paul Vasilef.

With these stunning pieces on display at some of the biggest events in the world, Paolo Sebastian is continuing to prove that couture, made here in South Australia, can quite literally feel like stardust brought to life.
