Federal Money Addresses Local Challenges

The City of Holdfast Bay welcomes the announcement by the Minister for Home Affairs and Justice, Brendan O’Connor, that $350,000 of Safer Suburbs funding has been allocated to the City of Holdfast Bay.

The money will be used for the Glenelg Precinct Lighting and CCTV Project which will see CCTV and improved lighting reduce crime in the area.

Mayor of the City of Holdfast Bay, Ken Rollond, said that it was a welcome investment.

“This is another example of how local and federal government can work in partnership.”

“The ‘Safer Suburbs’ projects, such as Holdfast Bay’s Lighting and CCTV Project, allows Federal money to be targeted directly at immediate problems, and so improve the area for everyone. “

“As we come into another busy summer, and with other important safety partnerships about to be announced, it is gratifying that our busiest season is less likely to be marred by untoward behaviour because of our dedication to maintaining Holdfast Bay’s position as a favourite destination for all.”

The Safer Suburbs Program is a federally funded national scheme to make city centres and community facilities safer places by funding community safety measures.
