Review: Felicity Ward: The Hedgehog Dilemma – 2012 Adelaide Fringe

"Do you know what they hedgehog dilemma is?" Felicity Ward asks at the opening of her show.

It turns out the hedgehog dilemma is when hedgehogs have to decide in winter, whether to cuddle up together with the risk of getting hurt by each others spikes or choose to be cold and alone but pain free.

What could that possibly be an analogy for?

Ward has based her whole show around this idea and takes us on a journey through some of her relationships and the more 'interesting' periods in her life.

More than just stand up comedy, Ward tells the audience a story of trying to find her ‘hedgehog’ in the style of an amazing one woman show.

Ward manages to make fun of herself and laugh about some pretty serious topics and dark times in her life while also delivering a really inspiring message.

She is so energetic and hilarious bounding around the stage but she is also a very talented actor. She made me laugh and she almost made me cry!

However, her facial expressions and physical comedy are still by far the best parts of the show.

I really enjoyed The Hedgehog Dilemma, it made for a welcome change from generic stand-up comedy.

Go see this if you like comedy that is clever and will make you think.
