Walker Corporation has announced that Festival Tower, a new landmark in Adelaide’s Riverbank, is now fully leased. The 29-floor skyscraper was officially opened yesterday by South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas, and has secured major tenants, including a long-term lease with Westpac Group, occupying five floors.
The Premier commemorated the completion of Festival Tower by unveiling a plaque dedicated to Lang Walker AO, the visionary and founder of Walker Corporation, who passed away in January. This event celebrated the tower’s opening, and honoured Lang Walker’s contributions to the Festival Plaza redevelopment.
“The announcement of a full house at Festival Tower is a message we want the rest of Australia to hear loud and proud. South Australia is open for business with quality commercial offices rivalling anywhere in the country,” said Mr. Malinauskas.
“This is a great endorsement of our state’s future from Westpac, one of Australia’s big four banks that employs thousands of South Australians and is a provider of hundreds of thousands of home and business loans in Greater Adelaide and beyond.”
The Festival Tower, occupying over 9,000 sqm, now hosts major Australian businesses, including Deloitte, Origin Energy, Allianz, Mott MacDonald, Sparke Helmore Lawyers, and the new Flinders University City Campus. Westpac’s decision to relocate follows their successful transition to Walker’s Parramatta Square in NSW, where they occupy 19,000 sqm of space.
David Gallant, Walker’s Managing Director and CEO, said “It took something special for Westpac to move from its current office in Adelaide’s CBD, which they have occupied since the 1940s, and we are thrilled to welcome their team to Adelaide’s premium commercial tower.”
“Festival Tower sets the benchmark for modern, connected, and sustainable workplaces surrounded by the city’s best new amenities and restaurants, all linked by outstanding transport connectivity.”
Walker’s vision for Festival Tower aligns with a bigger surge of investment in Adelaide’s transport, educational, and cultural infrastructure, making the CBD an attractive location for businesses. Adding to the appeal, Walker recently announced that the team behind East End Cellars, Mother Vine, and East End Cellars Norwood will bring a new and exciting food and wine experience to the ground floor of Festival Tower, further enhancing the vibrancy of Festival Plaza.
Westpac is set to begin its fit-out later this year, with teams anticipated to move into Festival Tower in 2025.
