With John Stamos in the cast, I was fairly sure I was about to see a comedy, but only just.
This standard tale of a bachelor who is looked to advice from his married friends because they envy his lifestyle has been done before, and better. The dialogue occasionally lifts to be amusing and yet you get the feeling that it just misses the mark.
Director Mike Young has tried to make this light hearted and fun but it is too often obvious and lacks finesse.
Michael Rapaport and Bryan Callen play the husbands for laughs and many of the situations have the potential to be riotously funny, but they fall flat or go too far.
Tika Sumpter is one bright spot. As Mike’s bartender and his accomplice in the “education” of these husbands, she puts in a fine performance and provides the necessary “love interest” for Mike himself.
This is not a film I would recommend, there are plenty of good RomComs out there, although to be fair this is not the worst I have seen either.
