Film Review: The Other Woman

The Other Woman

When the wife of a cheating man meets the other women in his life, they join forces and decide to make him pay in a variety of creative ways.

The Other WomanThere are very few people who would not get a laugh out of the fabulous new revenge comedy, The Other Woman, and I’ll put a fair bet on it that most of them will be straight men!

First-time screenwriter Melissa Slack and ‘Chick-Flick’ genius director Nick Cassavetes show what happens when the wife of a cheating man meets the other women in his life and they decide to make him pay.

Cameron Diaz is Carly, a very successful, slick lawyer. She meets handsome financier Mark (Nicolaj Coster-Waldau) who completely sweeps her off her feet by wining and dining her with flowers, champagne and very hot sex. Carly is smitten until she comes across his wife Kate (a very funny Leslie Mann from 2012’s This Is 40) who she initially thinks is Mark’s housekeeper!

The connection between Carly and Kate is magnificent as they slam shots of Tequila and decide to get even with the suave Casanova. Then they meet innocent, buxomous Amber (former Sports Illustrated cover girl Kate Upton) who is yet another woman in Mark’s life, so they all decide to make him pay.

The three leading ladies are a great team, but the support cast are just as bright! Everyone’s favourite detective from Miami Vice, Don Johnson, plays Carly’s father Frank and the colourful Nicky Minaj plays Carly’s know-it-all PA with a fabulous array of wigs and not so quiet outfits!

I don’t know which part of their creative list of revenge tactics I enjoyed the most, but there were many to choose from.

Yet again Diaz leads a very effective team in another fabulous Chick-Flick! An Academy Award winner, it may not be, but some days us chicks just need an escape and a darn good laugh!
