The brand new Stan Original Series The Tourist has released an action-packed, explosive new trailer for the six-part mystery-thriller.
Starring BAFTA nominee Jamie Dornan, The Tourist series has been predominantly filmed in regional areas of South Australia.
Set to premiere on January 2 the mystery-packed, international thriller is one of the biggest television production ever to be made in South Australia. Filming locations included Terowie, Peterborough, Hawker, Quorn and Port Augusta.
Created and written by acclaimed writers Harry and Jack Williams, The Tourist is a character-driven series from Emmy-winning production company Two Brothers Pictures (Baptiste, The Missing, Fleabag).
The Tourist sees Jamie Dornan (Belfast, The Fall) star as a British man (‘The Man’) who finds himself in the glowing red heart of the Australian outback, being pursued by a vast tank truck trying to drive him off the road.
An epic cat and mouse chase unfolds and The Man later wakes in hospital, hurt, but somehow alive – except he has no idea who he is. With merciless figures from his past pursuing him, The Man’s search for answers propels him through the vast and unforgiving outback.
Full of shocking, surprising, funny and brutal turns, The Tourist is set in a world populated by enigmatic characters, with off-beat comedy punctuating high-stakes action. At its heart, however, is a story of self-discovery with a ticking timebomb underneath: as The Man starts to uncover the mystery of who he was, he’s also forced to ask who he is now – and fast.
The Stan Original Series The Tourist also stars Danielle Macdonald (Unbelievable, Dumplin’, Patti Cake$), Shalom Brune-Franklin (Line of Duty, Roadkill), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Trapped, The Missing), Alex Dimitriades (The End, The Cry) and Damon Herriman (Mindhunter, Justified).
The Stan Original Series The Tourist premieres 2 January, only on Stan. Find out more about the series here.
