This morning, South Australian Premier Steven Marshall provided further detail around a new landmark for state, speaking on the plans for the new $200 million Aboriginal Art and Cultures Centre.
The plans have now entered the state’s planning approval process, and the epic final artists impressions have been released.
“The Centre will be a global tourism attraction, enticing hundreds of thousands of visitors each year,” Marshall said in a post to Facebook.
“We will share with the world, with great pride, the more than 60,000 years of Aboriginal cultures, as never told or shown before.”
The Aboriginal Art and Cultures Centre was designed in collaboration by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Woods Bagot, in what will be a first of its kind outdoor gallery, spaces for permanent and visiting exhibitions, cultural performances, meetings and ceremonies, gatherings and events. and even a cafe and retail space.
The centre will also include generous landscaping and provide a fluid transition beside the Adelaide Botanic Garden.
The site that is slated to open in Lot Fourteen is geared to begin construction later this year, with the centre due to open in early 2025.
