Rapidly expanding tea brand Addictea has officially landed in Adelaide, and it’s far more than your average tea shop. With its own on-site brewing and production facility, the team is all about precision, consistency and serving up exceptionally fresh, flavour-packed drinks every time.
Behind the busy team at Adelaide’s Addictea is a store with a simple attitude. Give people fresh, tasty tea. Addictea head office General Manager, Travis Yao, said that Addictea is first a tea brand and secondly a beverage brand.
“We operate our own tea production facility rather than relying entirely on external sourcing, our drinks are designed starting from the tea itself—not from add-ons, and we take a more restrained approach to sweetness and flavour balance,” he said.
“As a result, our drinks may not be the most intense at first sip, but they are more drinkable over time—and more memorable.”

Travis said the reason behind developing a tea facility was simple. “If we want to make great tea, we need to be involved from the very beginning—not just at the retail level.”
“Over time, we built the ability to handle everything from processing to blending, allowing us to control flavour from the source.
“Today, our facility in Central China is one of the larger automated oolong tea production sites in the region, producing around 1,000 tonnes annually. It supports both our own stores and other partners.”
Having their own tea facility not only lets them brew the freshest and tastiest tea but also lets the brand be more flexible and consistent.
Drinks at Addictea range in flavours but have two distinct categories: fruit teas and milk teas. Fruit teas are lighter and more refreshing, while milk teas are smoother and more rounded. Neither is overly sweet, but both are full of flavour and well-balanced.

Addictea originated in the Gold Coast in 2016 and since then has had a rapid expansion, with stores in Brisbane, Korea and China. But this isn’t like any other tea shop. Addictea don’t rely on excessive sugar or toppings to make their drinks stand out. Travis said the taste of the tea, the minimal ingredients, and consistency make people repeatedly go back.
The new space in Adelaide is cosy. It’s been noted that from day one, people here appreciate the more natural tea profile, and the Addictea team are thrilled that they chose Adelaide as their next addition.
“It’s a relaxed city, but people here genuinely value quality. From what we observed, customers are mindful of where ingredients come from, and they’re open to trying something different—as long as it’s well made,” said Travis.
“There’s also an appreciation for brands that feel more authentic and less mass-produced, which aligns closely with our approach.”
For Adelaide tea lovers, Addictea is making a strong case for switching up the tea game.
