Popular Adelaide Hills vineyard Nepenthe has completed the redevelopment of the Balhannah-based cellar door, which started construction in early 2021.
The newly renovated Nepenthe Cellar Door is a state-of-the-art building that makes the most of the iconic Adelaide Hills location with its floor to ceiling windows, an expansive deck, and a Barrel Room that opens up directly to the lawn to ensure you have a view wherever you’re seated.
The facility will be a central hub for food, wine and events. Located only 25 minutes from Adelaide or minutes from the historic Hahndorf, you’ll be sipping your wines from a stunning facility overlooking the view of vineyards in the rolling hills in no time.
At Nepenthe you can do guided wine tastings or for bigger groups wine flights, alternatively you can try a local charcuterie and cheese board which can be enjoyed on the new deck or on the lawns while admiring the breathtaking view.
The redevelopment at Nepenthe was constructed by Templeton Built who’s created a stunning work of art that includes a beautifully handcrafted limestone feature wall and incredible curved walls which add an element of sophistication.
Caring for the environment is at the front of the winery’s mentality, with a big focus of the project being centred around sustainability.
There’s solar panels which cover the whole shed which hopes to power much of the facility and battery backups which are attached to the building.
The new Cellar Door is at the Balhannah-based property which has served as Nepenthe’s official Cellar Door since 2002.
They’ve been established as a business since 1994 with the goal to become one of the region’s benchmark wineries known for producing premium wines that showcase what South Australia has to offer. They specialise in cool climate, fruit driven wines known for their elegant aromatics and textural palates.
The new facility will no doubt be a major destination for the 194,000 overnight visitors that travel through the Adelaide hills every year and one to bookmark for your next weekend road trip.
