Glen Ewin Estate has just launched the Winter Lodge, aka your cosy drinking/eating/board game playing space of choice for the next few months.
Widely known as one of the most beautiful, unique heritage places in SA, Glen Ewin Estate is home to picturesque valleys, 19thcentury stone buildings, and 12,000 fig trees (not to mention fig gin). Only twenty-five minutes north-east of the CBD, the Estate boasts both a Bistro and Cellar Door, as well as their well-known, 100-year-old Pulpshed that often plays host to wedding receptions.
To adapt to the Winter months, the Cellar Door itself has been moved to the Pulpshed, creating an ideal hideaway from the blustery weather. Expect an open fire, gleaming fairy lights and a warming wooden interior, as well as an eclectic mix of furniture, board games, and plenty of room to bring your mates. Reds, whites, and spirits will all be available, as will an assortment of yet to be released cocktails, and a brand-new Winter menu.
We’re told the new menu includes Cone Bay Crispy Skin Barramundi, Field Mushroom Arancini and Crispy Pork Belly, Crispy Skin Duck Breast, Roast Cauliflower florets with minted labne, and a whipped banana panacotta. The Winter Lodge also does breakfast, serving Barossa Valley free range eggs, warm banana bread, and buttermilk pancakes, amongst other delicious dishes.
Open for breakfast, long lunches, nibbles and wine tastings, the Winter Lodge looks to be the perfect place to settle in (fig gin in hand) and relax before a roaring fire. We’ve also been told that Glen Ewin Estate favourites All About Her will be playing live at the Winter Lodge, as will several other acts over the next few months.

The Winter Lodge is open for breakfast from 9 – 11:30am, and lunch from 12 – 2:30pm. The venue itself will be open until 5pm, with wine tastings available throughout the day.
