FIRST LOOK: Amor tapas and wine bar is a slice of Spanish heaven in Hyde Park

Set amongst the hustle and bustle of King William Road, in Adelaide’s south, sits Amor; a Spanish haven that has burst onto the scene with wine, cocktails, and tapas goodness.

Yes. In the heart of Hyde Park you can find this little slice of Spain.

As you walk in, you’re transported to Europe by the Mediterranean decor. Gazing up to the ceiling, a large tree trunk is suspended from a web of rope, wrapped with hanging lights.

It’s unique, innovative, and visually stunning. But it’s not just the decor that set’s this place aside.

The cocktail menu is out of this world. There’s the caramel fireball sour, served with a burning flame on top. Or, if you like your caramel a little sweeter, there’s the smooth salted caramel espresso martini.

Don’t let that put you off ordering something else. though. Their cocktail menu isn’t just extensive… it’s not even exhaustive. The team at Amor are happy to tailor-make custom cocktails to match your favourite spirits, fruits, flavours and taste buds. How good does that sound?

But whilst authenticity is at the heart of Amor, the business also takes pride in showcasing local, South Australian producers. They stock a range of local spirits, with gins including Three Valleys, 23rd Street Distillery, and Never Never Distilling Co.

It’s the menu that really makes Amor shine. There’s the delectable anchovies on toast, which might not be everyones first choice, but anyone who has tried this dish has said it’s the best.

For something more substantial, there’s the roasted cauliflower, served with fig and pistachio agrodolce, tahini sauce and honey. Or, for the meat lovers out there, there’s a crispy pork belly that’s as much crunch as it is melt in your mouth.

Or, my personal favourite, the Almodegas; pork and veal meatballs in Spanish salsa served with grilled bread.

Being a tapas bar, all of these dishes are nice and small, which means you can get through many of them, swapping and sharing until you roll out the door.

You can find Amor Wine Tapas Cocktails at 160 King William Rd, Hyde Park SA 5061
