Ten months after Pranzo closed its doors, the iconic Exchange Place location has been revitalised.
Bo Rarn is the new kid on the block, serving up mouthwatering Thai cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The new owners, Geng Sapphachai, Tatsanai Suwannarat and Phudisanat Ratanatilaka Na Bhuket, have joined forces for the venture, and have over 60 years of hospitality experience between them.
“We didn’t think too long about it. We just seized the opportunity” Geng explained.
Bo Rarn means ancient, and that’s what this restaurant is all about, serving traditional meals that pay tribute to its heritage and honours its roots.
See, all three owners want Bo Rarn to have a point of difference: Geng, an expert in hospitality, believes service is often too slow; Neno, a believer in the quality, local produce is shocked to see tinned products in use; and Arty, a self-proclaimed expert in authentic curry, was shocked when a curry with broccoli was presented to him.
Combining the three mens ideas deliver exactly what they had been looking for. Tradition, technique, flavour and presentation. So it sounds like Bo Rarn is going to have quick service, fresh produce, and… broccoli-less curries!
Lunchtimes are the most popular, and with an emphasis on quick Thai street food, it’s proving popular for office workers with short lunch breaks. But there’s also a breakfast option available if you want something on the way to work.
Then, when you’ve got a bit more time at the end of the day, Bo Rarn’s dinner offerings involve a proper dining experience, with fine, authentic cuisine, and wine pairings.
The inside has also been transformed, with traditional Thai artwork designed by renowned Thai artist Pechsing Somnus taking the spotlight.
