Ahhh Brighton, the perfect place for a Sunday stroll on the beach with the pup. You’ll see plenty of fit folk on your path but they might look a little hangry, because up until now there’s been a lack of health focussed locations in this summer hotspot.
Well, as of this Friday, be hangry no more seasiders! Brighton’s newest cafe The Seller Door will be open for business. Serving you up fresh juices, smoothies, raw desserts (from Sweet Nectar desserts), salads and paninis… oh and top class South Australian coffee (yep, theroastery is right here.)
As the name sneakily suggests though, this is more than just your standard health cafe. Owner and manager Tom Rodgers is super passionate about showcasing local small batch South Aussie producers, something he shares with the Glam team.
The spacious cafe contains producers shelves that line the length of the lefthand wall, and are designed to give South Australian artisan produce creators a chance to meet the wider public. From cheeses, to nuts, smallgoods to sauces you’ll be able to taste, try and buy local food you may have never laid eyes on before. They will also be given opportunities to visit the store to do tastings and meet the maker classes. Um, yes please.
Tom and his family own a farm and vineyard in McLaren Vale and know the importance of being driven by passion, and such have sourced other great South Aussies who share that homegrown SA produce pride.
“It’s becoming the most inspiring trend here in SA. People are really engaging with where their food comes from and the quality of produce we have here. There are so many passionate people making amazing food and we just wanted to give them an outlet to share that passion with people” says Tom.
But our favourite news of all? The Seller Door will be serving up that fabulous produce in takeaway hampers. Picture it now: bread from the Brighton Jetty Road Bakery, Adelaide Hills cheese, olives, dips, Riverland proscuitto; Borrow a picnic rug and stroll down to the beach to soak in some of the finest things our state has to offer. Perfection.
You can already feel the good vibes rolling out of the place. “We just want to create a great community vibe here. There’s already some great stores and cafes down here and we want to be able to complement those and really get involved in the great culture here”
This Friday The Seller Door will be open for coffee and raw desserts with the full smorgasboard of delicious food being rolled out in the new year.
