A Clare Valley favourite is set to open the doors to its stunning new distillery this weekend, bringing with it sleek modern vibes and absolutely delicious gin.

Clare Valley Distillery comes from the minds of three Clare natives, Di Mayfield, Guy Parkinson and Katherine Nugent, who after noticing a distinct lack of gin being produced locally, decided to kick off the dream of making their own. Over the years the distillery has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike with its retro pop-up bar. You may have also seen ‘Little Tinnie’, the official gin caravan rolling out to events and functions all over the valley and beyond.

Now the Distillery has a more permanent home in the heart of the Valley.

“It’s something that we’ve been aiming to have for many years now and its sort of been a bit of a pipe dream until now that I’m seeing it go up in front of my very eyes,” Katherine Nugent of Clare Valley Distillery said to Glam last May.

The new distillery is an incredible mecca of all things gin, hospitality, and style. It is a unique addition to the primarily wine-focused region, bringing another option for wine and gin fans alike.

The building itself is grand, blending the new with the old. It is framed with black steel and features contrasting wooden and brick components. One of the key highlights is the huge cactus standing proudly by the distillery. The cactus is original to the location, with the building being constructed around it.

Inside is equally as impressive with smooth concrete floors, plenty of seating, and stunning garden views, this is the ultimate new spot to kick back and relax with a gin in hand.

Back in May Katherine hinted at her aspirations for the venue, hoping to create a boutique experience that will be a creative hub for artists.

“I’m also hoping to co-host creative writing retreats and classes down the track, just to have a different artistic enterprise in the valley that we don’t really have yet,” she shared.

“We have the odd one here or there, but nothing regular. I’d like to have one that has opened up a bit of a gateway to people, attracting authors and writers to the area.”

With the soft opening happening this long weekend, this is the ultimate spot to try if you find yourself in the region!
